Anyone know if there is a quick, simple way of examining a Digital Versatile Disc, say under 'My Computer' and determining what region it has been encoded to?

I'm not sure you can do it directly from My Computer. However, if you run DVD decrypter, it gives you the disc details, including Region coding, for each DVD drive as soon as it opens. Should you feel so inclined you can also use it to break the region and protection coding and copy the DVD files to your hard drive for back-up purposes. It's available free from http://www.dvddecrypter.com/

Thanks daves - another useful link. I'd been looking at DVD Infopro since my original post but will certainly check out dvddecrypter - thanks once more for your helpful suggestions!
