help with my laptop

i can't seem to find my cd drive. i know where it is situated, but my laptop doesn't seem to have a file for it anymore for me to locate. i can't play anything or burn my music. this has really confused me. can anyone help?

You have probably 'lost' your drivers.

Start - my computer - view system information


Click the hardware tab - then device manager

Scroll down and hopefully you find your cd listed - double click and then open the 'driver' tab. Click update drivers.

This is assuming you have Windows XP
Open control panel
system
hardware
device manager
find the Cd - click on it and delete

then from the menu
action
scan for hardware changes

if you cant see the cd ... you could try add remove hardware in control panel

if no joy - the drive is broken.

look for another ...
