It looks like an old stenography machine, a sort of shorthand typewriter used in law courts and so on.

Not positive though.

Apologies - I have been told that it is not a steno machine.

Could it be an early personal computer? Or some sort of mixing deck?

I want to know now.

I think it's a Movement Drum System I, analogue drum synth, I can only find pictures of the system II but it is mentioned in Wikipedia as having been in the video. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movement_Systems_ Drum_Computer
