I have recently been told that Aol has a function that converts high resolution jpeg images to ART low resolution form, is there a way to change this compression so the images remain high resolution? (Iam running Windows ME and have version 9 of Aol)

You have just stumbled upon one of my pet peeves about A-Oh-Hell.

The only thing you can check on AOL 9 is:

i) Settings;

ii) Internet (Web Browser) Settings;

iii) Under Web Graphics select Never compress graphics (the default setting is "Compress graphics only when I do not have broadband connection to AOL" - if you have got broadband, then the graphic quality is probably already as good as you're going to get on AOL.

It's always been a... "feature"... of AOL to compress graphics to practically .gif quality. It's only recently that you've been able to change how much it compresses them by. (By the way, they say it's a "feature" because it obviously speeds up the loading of webpages... Personally I would rather have better quality pictures).

Thanks for your help but I have been unable to locate the 'Internet (Web Browser) Settings' folder, if you could give me any more details in finding it I would be much appreciative -Thanks -J
Which build of AOL 9 are you using? (To find out, click Help then About AOL then read off the red writing - mine is "Revision 4156.631").

Once you click on Settings (or Keyword: Preferences should bring you to the same screen), Internet (Web Browser) Settings is the 7th clickable link on the list.
