I have AVG installed and it has been fine for a good while until recently, I have got a security status alert which reads:
Internal Virus Database is out-of-date.

What is this and what must I do to fix the problem?

Double-click the AVG icon at the bottom right of your screen. (It's the square, 4-coloured one).

Click 'Check for updates'.

AVG should then automatically bring itself up to date.

Thank you but I already tried the updating. This is what I get:

Update was unsuccesful.
Cannot initialize the update interface. Installation of AVG Free Edition is probably damaged. Please reinstall AVG FE.

I am attempting to remove AVG but its not allowing me!
Hi,
Is your firewall stopping AVG connecting to the net, have you changes it or any of it's settings recently. ZoneAlarm seems to work quite well with AVG.

Good Luck
Try re-installing AVG without first uninstalling. You should be offered an option to repair the existing installation.
