So I suppose What I really want to Know is will the driver software for the player work with Vista. Thank you again for your help.:-D

You sholdn't need to install drivers for Vista, since USB is native to WinXP and Vista. Drivers are only needed for WIn 98 and earlier cos USB came out after that OS was released.
As to if the software with the mp3 will work with Vista that depends on which mp3 you are after.
Most cheap mp3 players have a simple drag & drop file system and all music is kept in one folder.
I know that Sony players need to have the Sonic Stage software installed on the PC you are transferring files from in order for it to work. I don't know if this is Vista compatible or not.

It doesn't really matter if the mp3 player is solid state or hard drive, as far as the PC is concerned it just sees a storage device on the end of the USB port. Most cheap mp3s below 100 will be solid state. Hard drive versions are usually more expensive and hold more songs but are quite fragile so don't drop em or shake em around. Their battery life is shorter too cos they need to power the disc as well as the headphone amplifier.
