MP3 battery problems

I have just bought a brand new Sony NW-808 MP3, wonderful thing BUT when not in use the battery completely empties overnight ( before anybody says anything, I am not leaving it switched on by mistake).
I have already had a replacement but same thing happened.
Has this happened to anybody else (a manufacturing defect perhaps?). Any suggestions?
