I just got a new laptop and am going to be traveling by air. This is my first laptop and I've heard rumors that the security checkpoints with the x-ray machines can damage a laptop is this true or just urban myth.

I agree with Rojash. I take my laptop abroad several times a year, and have never had a problem.
