What do you call the image that comes up when you start your PC, with a message saying 'Windows 98 is starting' or words to that effect?

It is called the Splash screen, if you are thinking of changing it, here is some usfull info. Windows 95 and 98 handle the logo bitmap in the same way. If a good LOGO.SYS exists, Windows uses it. If not, Windows extracts the default logo from Io.sys. (Io.sys should never be modified.) LOGO.SYS must be a 320 by 400 pixel, 256 colour Windows bitmap file. Windows stretches the image to 640 by 400 pixels for display. LOGO.SYS resides in the boot drive's root directory or, if the drive is compressed, in the root directory of the host for the boot drive.
