Split screen

Hi there Ethel,I want to split the screen to be able to compare two similar pics.You answered this query at the beginning of the year.I've done as you said, but I can only get one of the open pics to come up on the screen.Any ideas??? Thanks

Can't remember what I said! :(

Open the two pics up as normal. You are aiming to have two full screens, one hidden behind the other, and with two tabs in the bottom task bar.

Now right click in an empty part of the bottom task bar and click 'tile panes horizontally' (or vertically, whichever suits you better).

What happens?

I get one half of the screen with a pic. and the other half has the open >picture folder<with all the thumbnails that I chose from.

Hmmm. It should be simple!

Did you open the two pics seperately, without closing the first to open the second?

With the two panes open as you described, is it possible to open the second pic from the thumbnail?

With the two panes open it's either one or the other photo with the folder of thumbnails taking up the other half of the screen.Sorry to be a pest!!!

Sorry. Have you opened one pic. Minimised it.

Open second pic. Minimise.

Now do the 'tile windows' bit.

Don't know if that will do it.

It's me again When I minimise the pics I get the two of them BUT both on the one side of the screen.It would be great if we could make that final step and get one on each side.Thanks for your perseverence.

Sorry to interrupt but what if you were to use two different photo programs to open each pic. Then just resize each window to fit each side of the screen.

I assume you are viewing the pikkie in picture and fax viewer?

If you were using a graphics prog ... such as paintshop pro ... you could open two (or more) pikkies and then use you could wither drag the open windows arround to where yoe want them 0r use window | arrange or cascade to arrange them neatly

if you don't have such a prog
download irfanView (it's free) http://www.irfanview.com/
that way (as peanut says) by using windows pikkie viewer and irfanview side by side .... you get what you want

also look at the "create panorama" option in irfanview to show two images side by side!
