Where can I get one with good black borders on the countries and little or no detail, so that I can colour the countries individually using flood-fill?

This is because .jpgs and .gifs reduce the picture quality. Therefore, to work in MSPaint at least, you need a .bitmap file so that you have pure black country border lines and pure white countries. If you want to work with a .gif (and want to use some kind of effects wizzard available on most graphics programmes to eradicate the various shades of white and change them all the pure white, try copy and pasting this map: http://tinyurl.com/2xtso
