Hi,

Does anyone know why my sky broadband constantly goes off.I am at about 8 meg and somedays it is on for about 10 secs only and have to reboot pc and modem.

I have a netgeaqr modem,not the one sky provided and have used a belkin one, with no differance.

Anyone any ideas

its because the amount of users drains the quality of the broadband signal, you are probably baraly getting 2 megabyte broadband, the signal becomes so poor that it cuts the connection.

the only way to solve it is by updating BTs exchanges, which sadly they wont be doing for a while yet...

It might be worth trying to put DSL filters on each of the phones in your house if you have more than one. That cured it for me when my broadband kept dropping out.
I had this problem so i pity you ! Im guessing you are a fair distance from your exchange like me.My problem was basically that the speed I was on was too fast for my line so it couldnt handle it and kept dropping.My provider said there was no problem and Bt also said my line was fine but I kept pushing and eventually my provider contacted BT who made some adjustments to my line and all is now fine.My provider is Eclipse but I somehow doubt Sky will provide the same level of service!
Thats the trouble with these 'upto' services they are designed to keep pushing your line as fast as possible.
