My pioneer DVD player will not recognise some discs. It plays some, but not all. Even ones I have played successfully are not being recognised. New discs I have have bought do not play but a freebie from the newspaper plays no problem!
Anyone got any ideas? Have e mailed Pioneer already.

How old is the machine? The lasers eventually wear out.

Machine is XV-DV313 purchased in 2003. Ithas not been used that much in truth. Plays CD a lot no problems.
I have a Pioneer CD/DVD drive on my pc - and it stopped working after only 4 months.

Sorry I can't answer your q, but I'd love to hear the response you get from Pioneer.
I think it's likely to be a problem with the laser. It's probably cheaper to get a new player rather than fix it (though if someone will do you a free quote...). If you don't use it much, a 20-30 supermarket jobbie should do you fine.

Nop reply from Pioneer yet! The problem is the player is a a Home Cinema with the amplifier in built, otherwise it would have been a 20 replacement from Woolies!
