Lexmark Printer - problems while printing

I haven't used my Lexmark X1270 Printer for about 3-4 months. I tried to use it yesterday and the ink from the black cartridge is very faint and the colour cartridge only prints certain colours. The ink levels are still very high.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.

Inks probably dried up. I was in the poster printing trade and your options are:

1. Spit on a piece of kitchen roll (not loo roll) and gently dab the print head under the cartridge until the colour comes back to life then blast a test page through using heavy coverage of the colour that has dried up.

2. If you have the reciept, take it back, they usually exchange it no problem.

3. If 1 and 2 don't work you'll have to bite the bullett and buy a replacement.

Thanks Myriad.

There is no improvement with the black cartridge and only slight improvement with the colour. I'm sure i've still got the receipt so I shall return it to Argos.

Thanks again
I usually stand the cartridge with the print head in a saucer of hot (not boiling) water and leave until cool then wipe the print head on a damp tissue.
Repeat until all colours are visible.
