MSN Messenger fault on Vista on a new Acer computer

Hi, my brothers have a new Acer computer and have been trying to get on the MSN Messenger but a grey pop up box keeps saying something along the lines of there is a fault (I think something to do with Acer security). Has anyone had this problem, and how did you resolve it? TIA
