Problems with Computer - help!!!

When we switch on the computer it brings up several boxes the first one is titled error starting programme then in the box it says A required .DLL file, DNSAP,.DLL was not found. Another box it titled Finished - 6688 (this number often changes) then lists the following Access Denied (this could be on several lines) Files not found Batch file missing C:\>file not found once you click out of all the boxed the computer will work with the internet and e-mails but the anti-virus is not working correctly as it keeps saying unfinished update on AVG re-start computer but when you restart the same thing happens it is not updating. It also will not let me go back to a previous restore point. My husband was having problems with limewire, we are not sure if this has anything to do with it. Sorry its such a long listing, heres hoping you can help. Julie xx

Try simple things first. Uninstall AVG in add/remove programs and reinstall it.

Reboot.

Are the problems still there?

Thanks for your reply. I have uninstalled and reinstalled AVG. Now only get the one message:
A required .DLL file, DNSAPI.DLL was not found.

Any ideas?

Have you tried a system restore? Go back to the last time the pc was working ok .
