Loss Of Volume

I have lost total volume (sound card is think is probably the proper wordiness!) Someone was helping me (or trying too) but I wasn't getting anywhere. Is there a website where I can do this from, is so, anyone know a website address. Thanks.

are you sure your speakers are not on mute
If your computer isn't muted try checking that the sound card appears in the System Info screen in the control panel. If it doesn't you may have to reset your BIOS. To do this I think you have to hold down CTRL, or possibly Shift just after you turn your computer on. From the screen that appears you then click something like 'reset bios to original settings'.

MISTAPOOLE - YOU ANGEL! You've restored the sound thank you soooooooooooo much. It worked straight away, (it was the Shift key no CTRL). Thanks once again.
