Damn WAP alerts

I am plagued by WAP alerts on my Vodafone Sharp GX30i (don't laugh). Tried to erase one which popped up today but the icon won't go away. Tried several times going into Vodafone Live and got as far as my Alert Inbox - but it refuses to open.
What can I do to remove the icon short of bouncing it off a brick wall (which I don't really want to do)?

S'ok, sorted it. Vodafone server was down.
