provided the aerial is looped through to the TV as normal it will record whatever you are tuned into.Unless your freeview box has more than one tuner, you will not be able to record one programme whilst watching another

thanx you have just answered another question, is it possible to get a freeveiw box with a dual tuner ?
Cheaper to buy a second freeview box - they are only 20 or so.

Have one hooked to the video recorder and the other for watching tv.

I can't think of any reason why that wouldn't work.

cheers....... good idea
A video recorder has a built in TV tuner.

Normally when you record on to video you are recording what the TV tuner INSIDE the video recorder is tuned to.

If it is an analogue tuner inside the video then of course it will not pick up a signal after the digital switch over.

It may be a digital tuner inside the video, I am not sure if any video recorders have digital tuners built in.
