Firewalls

My evil employers have put a firewall on our computers so i can't access my hotmail (grrr), is there any way of getting round it without getting caught that's not too techie or have i got to live with it :( ?

It depends how sophisticated their software is. There are some that just block URLs, e.g. hotmail.com, there are some that let you go to the login page and then block any online email.

If its the first, you may be able to beat it by using the IP address, i.e 207.68.172.239 (just type this into the brower address line)

oh bum, got all excited cos it worked! got to login page then got access denied after that... poo thanks anyway, will just have to live with it.

if its one that blocks the url, just type http://www.hotmail.com? - making sure u put the ? at the end.

Programs like Outlook Express (and even Mailwasher) can check hotmail for you. I dunno if you use any mail clients at work or would be allowed to change the settings in this way. Probably not if you can't even visit hotmail.
