ITunes conundrum

Am busy importing my pretty huge CD collection to iTunes prior to getting a 60Gb iPod for Xmas but am worried that my old PC doesn't have enough space on it for everything. I understand that if I transfer what I have imported to the iPod then delete the albums from iTunes to make room for new ones they will be deleted from my iPod when I try and add the new ones. Is there a way round this - i e so I can save music to the iPod so it won't be deleted after I delete it from iTunes?? All help much appreciated.

External hard drives are getting cheaper by the week.

Simply plug in to a usb port. Internal hard drives are cheaper but I really do think that externals are ideal for music, photos and video.

Although my Zen has a 60gb hard drive and doesn't have the problem that you describe. Can add / remove music, pics, videos from any pc in many different formats without it needing to sync to a particular library.

I love my Zen, :) It has FM radio too.

They do not make a 60Gb iPod. Are you getting the 80Gb or the 160Gb.

The 80Gb should hold 20,000 songs or 2,000 CDs worth.

If you do not have 60Gb on your computer, why are you buying this size iPod, wouldn't you be better with a smaller one?

What file format are you importing your songs to your computer?

There are different qualities which will let you get more songs on for less space on your hard drive.

You can get songs off of your ipod onto another computer, just not with itunes. Download yamipod for free and you can do it using this.
