Reasonably priced recommended good underwater camera?

Hi everyone, I would like to get my Dad one of these as he is a really keen Scuba Diver, has anybody got any recommendations. I have a budget of about �200.

Thanks so much in advance-ps - he is quite an experienced diver and goes very deep, so i'm looking for one that would go a long way down,xx

sorry to rain on your parade ... but if your dad is a keen scuba diver ... you are in a different league (possibly 25000 leagues?) from the "bit better than waterproof" type of camera

"It's designed to be used for up to 30 minutes and to go no deeper than 1.5m - any longer and the combination of time and pressure means water could start to get in"

the cut off is quite small .... then there is a jump in price .... to match the drop in depth

A quick google shows that empty housings come in well above your budget

Hi ACtheTROLL, I know exactly what you mean, i've been researching all night and I cannot find anyhting within my price range - I think i'm going to go for something that allows you to go to a depth of about 40m - I might get a compatible camera to start with and buy the housing perhaps as a Birthday present. Just trying to find something at the moment that will be compatible with housing at a later date. The canon's look good.
