New tv
5 Answers
Assuming my TV is going to die soon, I need a new one. Any idea what sort I should get- I don't really understand all the digital stuff that is coming in. I would need a not too large TV that I can move easily on my own for when I go to Uni, but presumably it will need to be digital? thanks

The '' old fashioned" tv with the stick out back (crt) is still the best picture unless you are forking out vast sums to watch the limited hd programmes and there are some real bargains to be had. Just make sure it has at least two scarts ( a scart splitter is fairly cheap though - so you can run 4 scarts from 1)

The cheapest way to solve your problem would probably be to buy a conventional analogue portable TV (45 at Argos or Asda), together with a Freeview box (20 at loads of places. Occasionally 15 on special offers).
Otherwise, sticking with a conventional (CRT) TV, but getting one with the Freeview tuner built-in, Argos sell a suitable model for 100

but you might find one cheaper somewhere else in the sales.
For something which looks more modern (because it uses an LCD screen, rather than a CRT), expect to pay around 150:
