i may have a virus because i keepon having popups i am running vista with norton 360 +add on what can i do norton want 70 quid

Switch off your recovery programme and restart the computer in safe mode (tap f8 key while starting up).
Run the anti-virus programme.
Alternatively, run an on-line virus scan - e.g. Trend.
Whether or not you have a virus, get an anti-virus programme as above.

From within Windows, you can just type restore into the Start menu search box.
To start in safe mode, restart your computer and keep tapping the f8 key. You should get a menu of options, one of which (3rd if I remember correctly) will start in safe mode.
Both Avast and AVG are free to home users and will update the virus database frequently.
