I think Linux is more or less free and Macintosh u pay thru the nose for. Though I love the Macintosh story of how it came about....a facinating book imho is From Pepsi to Apple ....the story of how Apple grabbed the top marketing guy in Pepsi and his efforts to catch up those visionary guys....pity he told them to make everyone pay thru the nose for it.....

Mac OS-X is, essentially, Unix (with a pretty GUI) and Linux is the free open source version of Unix (again with a pretty GUI). So I guess they are the same except for the GUI. That'll be �50. Oh, and one is free. That'll be another �50.

And if you want me to talk about the unix kernel, that'll be expensive...
