If I want to copy Video to DVD is there any particular type of disc I should use. I see very cheap ones in Supermarkets, are these the type, or is there something better. Does it depend on the make of DVD/VCR
dvds come in different types R+, R-, RW+,RW-
some recorder do both + & - but usually it's one or t'other.
so check.
If the DVD is a bought film it will be copyright protected to prevent copying. There is, so i'm told software to crack the copyright but having done that the files will be too big for a standard DVD. it then would need compressing to fit.
It all takes time and i'm not sure if it's worth it.
good luck
The better the DVD quality, the better the result, with less chance of the copy skipping on playback. Avoid the cheapo ones.
It's worth copying videos when you have otherwise hard-to-obtain originals. As DVDs, they'll last longer and not degrade in the way magnetic tape does.
Thanks for your replies. I'll check on the R+/- ratings. The videos are of family weddings and holidays, so they need to be copied on to something worthwhile, so I think I'll forget the cheapy option.
