My home page is too wide and a couple of inches are off the screen. I have tried all the possible reconfigurations offered with no improvement.
I tried altering the text size and zooming in, but, it doesn't carry forward to the next time and I cant really see it very well anyway!
Bet it a simple thing to do, but I don't know how.Could I ask for some help please.
One other thing, I'm thinking of changing to free broadband with Sky,any thoughts?

Have you tried right-clicking on your desktop and choosing "properties" then click on the "settings" tab. There should be a slider saying "screen resolution". You could try moving it a bit to the right to display more on your screen.
Have you got the old style CRT monitor, or one of the new thin TFT types?
Squarebear suggests changing you resolution, and as far as I can see that's the only solution that will work - but then, you point out that making the text smaller makes it difficult to read. So, given that there IS only one way to fit more on your screen (make it smaller), and that this is not acceptable, that leaves you with the option of living with it or getting a bigger screen.
I can see what rojash is saying, up to a point. But on the 'Settings' tab that squarebear mentions, there's also an 'Advanced' button. This gives the option of custom setting the DPI value up to 200% of the default, to compensate for higher resolution settings.
BTW, jay, what is the physical size of the screen, and what is the current resolution?

Thanks for all the input. I have a TFT screen measuring 300x230mm. Current resolution is 800x600 pixels (the lowest setting offered) and DPI is 96, normal.
Increasing the resolution exacerbated the problem and changing the dpi(dropdown choice offers 75%) is unreadable.
I have tried "personalize this page" but the options give either 1 or 2 empty columns down the centre (much worse) or just reverse the right and lefthand columns (which is marginally better).
I would really like to put the columns one under the other rather than having them side by side. You used to be able to "drag" the content to where you wanted it!
Guess you are telling me "tough"?
Well I know more about my computer today than I did yesterday , so that's a bonus and thank you for your thoughts. If you have any ideas they will be welcome.
By the way, would you change your provider?
sounds like you need to change the settings on your monitor - not what's going to your monitor (if you get my drift).

Forget the pc end - your monitor has some settings buttons on it. Press into the menu and adjust the horizontal and vertical until it's correct.

Thank you Whickerman, found the buttons. Can move the screen sideways but that puts a black gap down the righthand side of the screen and I still have to scroll sideways to see the bit hanging off the end!
Nevertheless I am very grateful for your input and I am learning a lot.
OK jay, I can see my fix will not work, if you can only opt for 72 - 96 DPI. All systems I've ever seen would go way above 96.
