Cordless phones won't work
3 Answers
I am taking care of my father's house. He has a basic BT phone line. I added Virgin broadband service. I tried connecting two BT cordless phones and a Panasonic cordless (all of which work perfectly a week ago in my own house) but I cannot even get a dial tone. A corded phone work fine. Ive tried disconnecting all phones except one cordless still doesnt work. Any ideas?

Something about the frequency of the broadband signal can interfere with the way the base station to cordless phones decodes and transmits the signal to the handset.
Ironically, cheaper cordless phones do tend to work, although you will often notice up to a 35% drop in broadband speed just by picking up the phone. Your model of cordless phone simply isn't compatible; either you will need to use a cheap cordless phone (in which case the results might be unpredictable) or you'll have to use a corded phone. Or you'll have to cease broadband, which I doubt you want to do.
Cordless phones work fine on Broadband lines cos I use them on mine (and no, they are not cheap cordless phones). Make sure you have the microfilters installed on each phone socket where a phone/computer is plugged in (although it should still work without it)
Have you tried plugging a corded phone in ?
