how do i convert latest word document to earlier version?

I bought an up to date lap top and have found the word system isnt compatible with the older one in work. How can i convert the documents to word 2003. help I am going demented!

When you save, choose "save as" and you can choose different formats to save it as. One should be older versions of Word.

you can also set the file type as default

or alternatively if it's just one machine update the old version
