How I format A NEW FLASH DRIVE

Assuming windows, find the drive in My Computer, then right click and click format.

You'll probably want to format it as FAT32.

After inserting the flash drive into a USB port, open My Computer and look to see where the drive appears and remember that name. Right click on that name and choose Format. By checking Quick Format it can be done quicker but a full format can take up to 10 minutes.

Why do you want to format it?

some mfrs use cheaper non-standard mem which don't conformm to the standard
formatting can upset them badly

if it's full ... just delete the files
my advice would always be .... DON'T format unless you absolutely have to .... and if you do use
