Will a US-ENGLISH Wii work in the U.K.? Can it be modified?

If your TV supports NTSC signal, the console alone will work with your TV.

Wii's are region-locked so you won't be able to play UK bought games out of the box on a North-American Wii, you could either buy North American games, or install a mod which will circumvent the regional-lockout, such as a WiiKey or D2CKey, but there is limitations on which hardware the WiiKey/D2CKey and other modchips will work, so don't try it without knowing exactly what you have, what your buying and how to do it/get it done, otherwise your Wii will be dead and/or your money will be wasted, I bought one chip (wiiKey), fitted it, it didn't work, further found out my DVD chip was a D2C (even though the chip site said WiiKey worked on all Wii's), removed it fine, sent to a guy to install a D2CKey, turned out my Wii simply wasnt compatible even with the professionally fitted D2CKey...

Still works fine, as normal, chip guy didn't charge me, I just cannot play imports so have to wait for UK releases (boring).

It can get complicated and pricey (�50-�100) depending on what hardware DVD chip you have. Also you can buy a new DVD drive but that's about �70.

Use google, I THINK the newest dvd-chip version is D2C, so the D2CKey and Argon or something are recommended, but the D2CKey requires soldering 48 tiny (hair thick) wires, so unless your serious at soldering, don't try and do it yourself, people in forums advertise chip fitting services, and google will turn up results for all of these terms.
