What is the likely hood of getting busted by the police for downloading illegal music off the net? Do ISP's know that your doing this?

im sure if they really wanted to get you,they could and would but they are after the people who are major abusers of this technology to obtain free software.they want the big fishes !

As far as I'm aware, this doesn't fall under criminal law (it's not theft as you you're not depriving the rightful owner of the use of the material, and it's not piracy as you're not doing it for profit) - copyright law is a civil matter so you wouldn't get busted by the police. Just by overpaid American lawyers.

I believe they are mainly after the sources of the problem. That is, the people who allow the download of their songs (usually the people with huge libraries) and the software vendors who provide the tools.
