I have been looking at Google Earth and the Channel Islands and no road names are displayed but they are displayed in UK and everywhere else. How can I rectify this as I intend to go to Jersey this year? TIA

I don't think you can display road names for Jersey as I tried this before a trip last year.

Buying a road map was my solution :)
It's a tradition left over from when the germans invaded

because of the ten year rule ..... everybody who lives there has ample time to get the two main roads and the few others fixed in their heads .......

also ... because of the isolation from the mainland by now most of the locals are related .... some are even their own uncles !!!

street names have been replaced by a system known as familial reference.....

so directions go something like .... (with a faint franglish accent)

up to our nellies ... turn left at uncle joe's - carry on till you see our geoff .... and then turn down towards jack's auntie may's house.

(its the same system they use in parts of ireland and cornwall)

It's such a small island that you can be anywhere in 30 minutes .... even if you set off in the wrong direction.
When you get to Jersey, I recommend you buy the widely-available Perry's guide (ISBN 0-952206544) which is an excellent map book showing road names throughout the island. For info, Haut de la Garenne is on page 44 square C2.
