DVD Burning

I have recently bought a new computer, with a DVD burner, however whenever I try and copy from disc to disc the software (Pinnacle CD/DVD) I am using says the disc I am copying from is write protected therefore it will not copy it. Does anybody know a way round this or can recommend a burner that will burn write protected DVD's? I just want to back my collection up!

try creating an image file and then burning the image to disc

CloneDVD copies everything including thr write-protection.
