unencrypt a file

i have downloaded a secure files sharing program which downloads files, but when the files are downloaded i can't burn them to cd because they seem to be stuck in that software program sort of like encryption. if i want to view or listen to the file i'd have to put in a password word and can only view or listen through that software program only on the computer. please help
