sky box keeps crashing
3 Answers
very frequently our sky digibox keeps freezing. It did it this morning and has just done it a few minutes during emmerdale, and has crashed before. When it crashes the sound keeps playing but the picture just stands still, and wont respond to the remote.
Its a Grundig, quite an oldish one, so is it just the box or the signal, because the Pace and Panasonic never crashed?

Does it affect all channels? If it is that old then the repair bill would far outweigh the cost of a replacement so perhaps contact SKy to see what offers they have on a new box. I think that they are selling Sky+ boxes for 99 at the moment.
it could be that you need a new LNB. this si the bit on the end of the rod that points away from the dish.
if you have insurance on it with Sky then get them to do it otherwise you can get a new LNB unit from most aerial/satellite suppliers even Maplin. I changed my quad LNB recently and that resolved the lockup issue. Its quite easy to do if you have an accessible sky dish. if in doubt, get the experts in though cos you dont want to rish mis-aligning the dish as you will lose the signal all together then.
