Lexmark printer

I have a Lexmark 2400 series printer, and I have windows vista on my computer, I was just wondering how you get the printer to scan, I have followed the instructions in the manual which say to place the document you wish to scan on the flat bed, press the scan button and the all-in-one center should appear on the screen, but this is not the case, the center does not open.

Does anyone know how to open this center manually as I can't seem to find it (or instructions on how to do so) anywhere at all!!!
