I have Sky. Last night, I was watching it and my screen suddenly lost picture and went one-third black and two-thirds bright green. The terrestrial channels have also lost picture, but have sound. I can, however, play DVD's. Should I get out tomorrow and buy a new set, or call in the repairman?

What sort of tv is it? CRT, lcd, plasma?

The fact you can play dvds suggests your tuner has gone.

Thanks, Evelyn. To be honest, I don't know what kind of TV I have, but I have an update to report. I disconnected the whole caboodle and, when I switched on again, everything was OK! So, all is fine, as we speak, but many thanks for your help.
