Unistalling norton

Hi im stuck!
The norton anti virus has run our on the laptop, i have the cd to replace it but i cant get the old anti virus to uninstall. the cd says i need to unistall before i can upload the new version. Have tried deleting it but to no avail.
Help please will be back in a minute just popping the washing out to dry.

There is a Norton uninstall tool available from the Symantec site.

Norton is similar to cancer. You can remove the primary tumor but it is very hard to get rid of the metastitsied elements.
