An important consideration when buying any printer is the cost of the ink. When a replacement cartridge set costs over 25 the original outlay will soon be spent many times over.
My advice is to ensure cheap compatible ink cartridges are available for your chosen printer. You will make a considerable saving in running costs over the lifetime of the printer by using compatible cartridges.
agree that you can't go far wrong with canon or epson, as it is a laptop though Do you currently use wireless on it? If so, how do you want to connect the printer to the laptop?
if you use normal USB then you will be "tethered" by the printer lead when ever you want to print anything.
you can get network printers and wireless printers so you wouldn't be "tethered" but these do cost a little more.
