we are a small company looking a setting up a web site with a buy online facility

how much should we expect to pay

and how much is web hosting

i know this may be a bit vague - but any opinions welcome

There are lots of options here!

If you have a lot of products to sell, you could look to buy hosting only and use e-commerce software (such as CubeCart or OSCommerce)

Or if you only sell one or two items you could have a simple one-page website with "Buy It Now" buttons generated via PayPal so people can buy with a PayPal account OR with any debit/credit card

or

do you want hosting that will allow you to set up your shop online (Such as http://www.uk2.net/e-commerce/ - �9.95/month)

There are several web hosts available online which offers free and super cheap web hosting for you but i would suggest you to buy a cheap web hosting service like PowerUp hosting, go dady etc. because they provides better hosting services in very affordable cost.
