lcd tv poblem

i have 42" lcdtv, flickerig vertival lines, i have tried switching the tv off and on again but it still flickers, could it be something to do with the resolution, the back of the manual says sample phase might be defleted, adjust phase according to picture position, or 1v height value may be set to high,dont know what these mean
