find the option to view full header or similar on your email software and it will show the route the mail has taken, originating address is towards the bottom.

well aside from the badly worded, and may I say sometimes blunt and rude questions...

You can trace the sender of an email from the IP address, which I've already said how to find, however as a member of the public you could probably only narrow this down to a country or, or if lucky an area of that country.

If you mean for legal reasons then yes the government could trace to a pretty precise location.

There are sites such as this one, where you can enter the IP addfress and it will give you details. Pay a sub and it will tell you who owns the site. http://www.dnsstuff.com/
