I am recording on my Toshiba HDD/DVD recorder using Verbatim DVD-RW discs, setting it to Video Mode, finalising it afterwards, then using a Panasonic DVD player to play back the programme. The player would not play back the recording BUT I recorded on a fresh disc, the same configurations and brand, and it played back satisfactorily. I was doing this test so that I could make recordings for my daughter to play. Have any of you come across this anomaly or can offer any solution?
I have found rogue disks in most packs that I have bought - annoying but I have accepted there is nothing I can do about it unless there is a large proportion of faulty disks in the pack, in which case I try and get a refund.
Hi Bathsheba and Ethel,
I didn't realise how widespread this problem could be. I was comparing their use to how we used video tapes so it appears that I will have to test each disc before committing it to a full recording. I hope, vainly I guess, that the industry will rid themselves of this blot on their industry. Thanks.
