pop ups

My pop up blocker is on but when I turn my computer on two pop ups appear whilst the machine is booting up. Please can someone tell me how to get rid of them for good. Many thanks in anticipation of any help.

Pop-up blockers generally only work within browsers. The fact that it happens when you boot your computer means you have ad-ware/spyware on your machine. Download Lavasoft Ad-Aware and scan your computer for unwanted programs. There is a free version for private users here:

thank you kevsparky, have only just been able to log on, computer has been down all day, I have Norton 360 protecting me, the pop ups are Acer telling me to register the machine and a synaptics pointing device, do I need more protection? they are just a nuisance more than anything else.
