Have got a new laptop with Vista, but need anti-virus software. Dell says it is installed (Mc Afee) but computer tells me I am not protected. I would like to be able to download some free stuff via my PC and save to flash disk and instal on laptop. I haven't got my router yet, but am going away Monday and so is urgent. Work IT Point tells me they have no Vista anti-virus, only XP. Any suggestions? I tried to instal broaband on laptop today but apparently need higher spec modem thing. Many thanks
i recently had a massive virus problem on my lappy.
McAfee didnt pick up on the virus till it was too late to do anything about it. the whole of my computer was in a bad way. running slow and masses of pop ups.
i was on the verge of doing something i didnt want to do... give in and take the lappy to a shop for repair !!!
but, as a last resort i went to PC World and purchased a tool called SPY SWEEPER.
to say i was impressed is an understatment. it worked brilliantly. cured my lappy and gives me regular updates.
all this for ONLY 20
it runs alongside my McAfee and works with no problems.
theres a 30 day money back guarentee if youre not happy with the thing too.
just checked the disc and it DOES cover ALL versions of Vista.
hope this helps.

you may need to update your McAfee (online) or run a full system scan for full protection.

Questions about security software appear here almost daily. I recently attempted to summarise the 'consensus viewpoint' (as far as such actually exists among ABers), regarding appropriate software, in my two-part post here: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Comp uters/Question572051.html
