I recently bought a 40gig external hard drive, i wanted 100 or more but i was told that my pc would only recognise up to 40, is this true? and why would it only recognise up to 40 and not more? Thanks

It may be something to do with your motherboard or your processor. I cant say much without noing the spec of your Pc. Regards, Bos

The limitation on the recognition of hard drive size is dependant upon your Operating System, not your hardware; you must be running 98SE to have been told this. Even so,this applies to a HDD fitted internally via an IDE cable, I would not have thought that this would have applied to an external USB hard drive.
