Hi I'm having trouble burning DVD's from video files. I have a gadget to interface the video o/p to my PC and can grab the video OK. It saves on my PC as MPG files. I want to be able to edit them (ie take out ad breaks) and then burn them to DVD. Every free programme I seem to try has a problem with the files being in the wrong format for editing or missing VIDEO_TS files when trying to burn. I am contemplating buying NERO8 but will this do what I want it to do? Is there anything better available free?
If you are on XP, try Mpg2Cut2: http://www.geocities.com/rocketjet4/ . If memory serves, you will then need a burning program that will convert/author the resulting mpegs to standard DVD format.
I've not had any luck getting it to work on Vista, and use VideoReDo which wasn't free (about 35) but is easy to use and does a great job of slicing out ad breaks etc. I use it to author the whole DVD; the only thing that I'd like to change would be the limited menu options.
