Re-connecting....
3 Answers
After disconnecting from the internet I can leave my computer quite happily on desktop, but in the last 3 days after a short time it re-connects again. Does anyone know why this should happen as I don't have a clue? Thank you.

Have a look at anything that's under your username and type the name of the file (e.g. iexplore.exe) into google and it will tell you what the program is that's using this file/process.
Obviously you'll have to reconnect to search google so you might want to note down the list of processes before going back online or take a screen capture of them to say the typing.
It sounds like something's running in the background which wants to maintain a connection to the internet. Once you've established which one it is you can either go into it's settings to disable this "auto-reconnect" or you can uninstall it.
Ditto to stevie21`s reply but taking it a step further, if this has only been occurring for the last 3 days it is probably a programme that you have installed 3 days ago or one whose settings you have altered 3 days ago.If you are totally unable to trace the culprit, alter your connection settings to read `never dial a connection' which will stop it happening but means that you will need to manually log on to the internet instead of it automatically connecting each time you open your web browser/e-mail programme.
