not had computer for long.i am with sky but in my icons it says..bt internet,does that mean i can also use bt internet as well as sky? (having trouble e-mailing a friend whose e-mail address is with bt internet) thanx

Well dunno about the icons, but you should be able to email anyone with a valid address.

Do you mean you have sky broadband ? If so, it is strange that you have an icon on your desktop referring to bt internet. Can you get internet through both of these providers ? If so, you are paying twice for a service you only need once !

If your computer wasn't brand new when you got it, could it just be an icon from a previous user, that doesn't actually do anything which might be why you are having problems using it.

Anyway, as postdog says, once you have your internet connection and a valid email address for yourself, you can email anybody else on the planet, so long as they have a valid email address.

your internet provider is sky, you can access any web page or service you want to including BT internet sites and services but you are doing it using sky as your provider.

the BT internet stuff is just a left over from who ever you bought the computer from, they tend to stick icons and references all over your computer from a provider they are in partnership with.
